Happy Birthday Daddy!

So, April 2nd was Alvin's birthday. He doesn't particularly like birthdays, but not for the same reason as most. He really thinks we should do away with them and celebrate the day we are born again instead. We could call them "new birth" days. He says, "the first birth only leads to death, but the second to eternal life. This second birth is the true 'beginning of days' for the Christian (Exodus 12:2) and should be the one we celebrate." However, as far as traditional pagan celebrations go, it was a great one! He received a lot of birthday wishes/blessings from family and friends (all very thoughtful), and we actually got to have dinner for two at one of our favorite restaurants. However, he would probably say that the best part was his gift. He found this 214ce Taylor acoustic/electric, in like-new condition, online for an less than half of the price of a new one. Having saved for a while, he snagged it. He is pleased with it!

The real news is: we heard the heartbeat! It was such a good, strong heartbeat, and there was only one. (phew) We really like our doctor, she seemed very personable. Now we wait........ Isn't it cool how the Lord has already decreed the gender, name, life, and eternity of this baby, of which, we have only but heard it's heartbeat for about 20 seconds? He will unfold these mysteries to us in His perfect time, and we get the joy of experiencing them as He allows. He truly is a Father that gives good gifts to His children (Luke 11:13)! In mimicking this principle, here are some more pictures of how we are seeking to unfold the world for Jordyn in true love and Spiritual discernment.

 

 

 She is such a complete blessing to us and a true joy to our hearts. And just when things get comfortable, here comes another one!

"Lord, enlarge our hearts and increase our capacities to love, that we might be able and willing to pour out affection and care on the new baby without removing any from Jordyn. Allow us grace to continue displaying Your mercies toward our family as we shepherd them in You. Amen."

Outside Fun!

So, we noticed, like most toddlers, that Jordyn loves to slide, climb, and swing. We just decided to get a swing set and slide of our own instead of being that creepy family at McDonald's play place everyday. Now she has her own little playground oasis that is perfect for her and her friends to play with. Here are some shots from Spring Break with her Aunt Cindy!

It has been a really fun Spring Break, especially for Jordyn. She has gotten to see her daddy all day, everyday. Now, looking forward to summer and a new baby in October!

Creating New Life is So Beautifully Difficult.

So...finding the time and energy to blog has been difficult lately. Between constant/nighttime sickness and persistent fatigue, I am spent. Thank God for His promise in John 16:21,

"When a woman is giving birth, she has sorrow because her hour has come, but when she has delivered the baby, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world."

Nearly 11 weeks in, and whatever of "me" that I haven't given to Jordyn is poured into the life being formed inside me. A life that is currently the size of a "cumquat", whatever that is. (pictured above) At the moment, he or she (or they) are already undergoing what would seem to be finishing touches. For instance, the taste buds and fingerprints are forming this week. Also, no more webbed feet and hands. In fact, he or she is basically a smaller version of what they will be. Interestingly enough, Jordyn saw a video of the fetus at only 7 weeks and said, "baby". Isn't that comical? Scientists are trying to decide at what point a "blob of tissues" becomes a "right-bearing moral agent", and my 18 month old recognized that it was, in fact, a baby at just 7 weeks without any prompting. This is what the Bible calls "suppressing the truth in unrighteousness". The willfully ignorant will undergo the greatest condemnation. (Luke 12:42-48)

In other news: we got an iPad Air! Jordyn likes it a lot. It will be, and has already proven to be, a wonderful tool for homeschooling. This means, we now accept iTunes gift cards. Thanks!!

"Journey To The Center Of The....State."

So, we went to Conway for the first time in nearly a year. It was a great visit! Jordyn had a blast with Nana. I believe she will really be looking forward to going to Nana's house next time.

Although we do not miss Conway, at all, it was nice to see Alvin's family. We are constantly reminded of God's faithfulness to us and are hopeful and confident that He will do the same in those that we love so dearly.

 

Isa 59:1-3 ESV Behold, the LORD's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save, or his ear dull, that it cannot hear; (2) but your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear.

1Co 13:7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

While the world is celebrating man-centered love through the endless purchasing of flowers and processed sugars, we hope to teach Jordyn that intense love for man finds its Genesis in a intense love for God. Love for God must precede love for man for it to be genuine; for God is Love. All other forms are merely shadows of true love. Let us not forget why or how we love men and God.

She got in all these different positions in order to do this activity, I loved watching her mind work.

 

 

Day 5, Valentine's Day, we only did a Sensory Bin.

 

The base is colored dyed rice (Kool Aid and rubbing alcohol). It smells AMAZING!

 

I kept trying to talk about the items, but she was so into this bin she didn't speak for 15 minutes. HAHA
