Merry Christmas To All!

Jesus Is Born

We had a blast teaching Jordyn about the birth of our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ! She walked around our house talking about the whole story, from the trip from Nazareth to Bethlahem, the "NO ROOM" in the inn, the stable, the manger, the star, the angels, the shepherds, the wise men, and the gifts they brought! We first put up our Nativity scene. We were able to drive through a LIVE NATIVITY (however, the camera died after the second scene). We also, drove to see Christmas lights around the neighborhood that showed the nativity. We read lots of books about His birth, sang Away in a Manger morning, noon, and night. (Jordyn liked that one the best) Our holiday was not lacking in action: we created an advent calendar and followed it for 25 days. We walked door to door giving treats to the neighbors and handed out treats to Jordyn's friends at church to allow Jordyn to give as well as receive. We even hosted a Christmas meal at our house with some much loved family. We finished it all off with a candlelight service at our church  and then opening of gifts early (6:30 a.m.) Christmas morning.

ADVENT CALENDAR

We turn over a new card each day, and talk about the character on the card and how they played a role in the birth of Jesus.

Giving on Christmas Eve

The cards read:

Greatgrandma Clora

Christmas Morning opening gifts!
I made a candy cane trail on the floor from her bedroom to the gifts, she thought that was her Christmas present. Bad idea b/c she just wanted to eat her candy cane instead of open gifts.

I dusted this off in the yard and put it in a sheet protector, so we didn't get any in the house.

Swatting letters.

Jordyn read her easy reader books for this theme more than any other theme.
LOTS OF READING!
